About Illian
Illian lies on the southern coast at the end of the great river route that runs down from Whitebridge. Built among canals and marshes, it is known for its bridges, its Council of Nine and its Companions, the elite royal guard.
The Great Hunt for the Horn of Valere is called in Illian, and hunters gather here to swear their oaths. Perrin, Moiraine, Lan and Loial pass through the city in The Dragon Reborn, and Illian's long rivalry with neighbouring Tear runs in the background of Westlands politics.
Spoiler note: this guide mentions events up to The Dragon Reborn.
