Rhuidean

The hidden Aiel city in the Waste where future clan chiefs and Wise Ones are tested.

Where is Rhuidean?

Rhuidean lies south-east of Fal Dara, about 870 miles (1,400 km) away as the crow flies. It is part of Aiel Waste.

About Rhuidean

Rhuidean lies in a valley below Chaendaer in the Aiel Waste, built long ago and kept secret from outsiders. Men who would become clan chiefs, and women who would become Wise Ones, enter the city to pass among the glass columns, a ter'angreal that shows the history of their people.

In The Shadow Rising, Rand and Mat travel to Rhuidean, and what Rand learns there changes what the Aiel know about themselves. Avendesora, the last Tree of Life, also grows in the city.

Spoiler note: this guide mentions events up to The Shadow Rising.
